Über das Abenteuer
This hike and fly adventure pays homage to freedom, the beauty of nature and the courage to try something new. At the age of 57, I am taking on the challenge of crossing Austria on foot, using only my paraglider. My journey begins in the picturesque town of Götzis in Vorarlberg, in the far west of the country. It takes me over the Vorarlberg Alps, past the Stubai Valley, over Zell am See, the Bischling, Hochkönig and past the Dachstein to Liezen and the Eisenerz Alps. Then on to Mürzzuschlag, past the Rax to the Hohe Wand in the east of Austria. This extraordinary journey is not just a sporting goal, but an intense personal challenge in which I want to explore myself, my endurance and the limits of what is possible. I look forward to gathering deep impressions that go far beyond pure adventure and to sharing them here.

1991
The beginning of a passion
My first flights and a few months later, the proud owner of a special pilot’s license (equivalent to today’s cross-country license) for paragliders!
At that time, paragliders did not have the performance of today’s models…
2021
Erster geplanter Streckenflug
Shortly after takeoff, the flight was almost over.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the flight was successfully completed.

2022
The idea is maturing
First thoughts about the adventure are taking shape in my head.
It still sounds a bit impossible – but it would be cool.
Almost like the pros competing in the Red Bull X-Alps.
Of course, without the stress of competition and significantly shorter, but…
2023
Start of preparation
Flying under the supervision of a flight instructor again for the first time since 1991. A real challenge – not only because of the new security regulations. Thanks to the great support from flight instructors like Markus, Moni Eller, Markus SkyBanini and Dominik.

The planning is finalized – the route is ready!
Intensive training weeks in Austria, Slovenia, Italy and Spain, in the air and on foot – to increase stamina and test equipment and nutrition.
2025
Last preparations
The preparations will end with a training camp in Bassano over New Year, a hike and fly in Meduno, Tenerife and, coming soon, a special training week with Pepe Malecki and Moni Eller in Bassano.
